Black by CEZacherl Black by CEZacherl
Drawing this was intense. Not only was this the first time I picked up charcoals in a little over two decades, but I got on a crazy sort of artist's high while drawing it & drew this whole thing in under twenty-four hours (quick for me) drawing the last 7.5 hours straight.

The illustration is for the short horror film 'BLACK' by Scaryopolis. Other related artworks;

Wow, you've really been productive with quite a lot of impressive pieces.  The charcoal is an exciting addition, I like the subtle textures you can make with it.

Very cool, especially since the black background and black clothes are able to differentiate themselves.

Yeah, I was worried about that going in; but I'm pleased w/ how it turned out.

And thank you, very cool of you to say.

You should work in charcoals more.  THis is awesome!!  Nice to have a little lighter values than just ink sometimes.

There's so much more that I wanted to do, but I have to research it more. I'm certain there's a spray or something that'll fix the charcoal in place once it's applied. That'll allow me to get some better contrast in values amongst the ghostly images, I just gotta figure out the process.

 Yes there is Fixative Spray which keeps away smudging.  Also hairspray can work but sometimes it gives it a funny color depending on the spray.  Best used right after your done but if you redo it then spray that could work.
